Credibility, legal certainty and international standing, cleverly combined
More and more founders choose a US LLC as a lean and tax-efficient form of company. Yet founders still keep running into the prejudice that an LLC is not quite respectable, or that it is automatically suspected of being a pure tax-saving vehicle. Especially in sectors such as coaching, marketing or consulting, this image problem can lead to awkward explanations you could do without.
An elegant solution: A US LLC with an Ltd. suffix and a business address in London.
Colorado or Nevada: which is better?
We offer formation in two states that are particularly well suited to international entrepreneurs:
-
Colorado LLC Ltd. suffix possible Owners are not published in the company register Very good value for money
-
Nevada LLC Ltd. suffix possible Owners appear in the public register Known for business-friendly legislation
If discretion and data privacy matter to you, Colorado is usually the better choice.
Why an Ltd. suffix?
Both states allow you to use the internationally familiar suffix "Ltd." instead of "LLC". This small change brings clear advantages:
-
A familiar impression in Europe "Ltd." is known from British law and comes across as more respectable to clients.
-
No explaining to do with clients The abbreviation "LLC", which often has negative connotations in Europe, disappears: a real advantage, especially for service businesses.
Why a London address?
Combining it with a business address in London adds further credibility:
-
A European place of business feels more tangible and professional
-
More trust from banks, platforms and business partners
No problem for tax purposes: As long as no fixed business activity takes place at the address (for example an office, staff, a warehouse or operational management), no permanent establishment arises under international tax law.
In other words: the London address has no tax consequences in the United Kingdom if it is used purely for representation.
Important: we do not offer a London address ourselves and do not recommend any particular provider. There are, however, plenty of established providers from whom you can rent a virtual business address in London, for example with mail scanning or forwarding. Pay attention to data privacy and fair contract terms.

What about VAT?
Important for anyone wondering whether the London address means they need an EU VAT number: No, no EU VAT number is issued.
The reason: since Brexit, the United Kingdom is no longer part of the EU VAT system. A London address therefore changes nothing about your tax position within the EU. You cannot apply for an EU VAT number through the address, and you do not need one.
Here is how it works instead: As the owner of a US LLC, you generally invoice without VAT. Your business clients within the EU apply the reverse charge procedure. All they need for that is your LLC's US EIN.
What this means for you:
-
You charge no VAT on your invoices
-
You give your EU clients your LLC's EIN for their records
-
Your clients account for the tax themselves under the reverse charge
The bottom line: The London address has no relevance for VAT; it serves purely to present your business.
A common question: does the London address create a tax liability in the UK?
No. As long as you have no real permanent establishment there (for example, you employ no staff of your own and make no operational decisions from London), the virtual address has no tax consequences. It serves purely to present your business and as a rule has no tax effect.
